"Peggy unlocked the garage apartment door and stepped aside to let Peter go in first."
""Oh, wow!" he said. "It's even nicer than you said." Very dark hardwood floors with Azerbaijani rugs perfectly placed combined with white beadboard wainscote on cream-colored walls to create a richly tasteful setting. The walls were taller than in most homes and capped with thick white ceiling moulding. All of the formal elements of art were obviously executed by a trained and talented designer. Peter knew nothing about furniture but could feel the heavy price tags. There was a daring contrast between the dark floor and white furniture that was dramatic but it worked. Except for an impressive antique or two, the furniture looked brand new, and somehow wedded both modern and old Southern tastes. Centered on a heavy white marble coffee table was a large, jade-colored Lalique vase with a fresh arrangement of white orchids."
