Title:

"Not once did he lament the loss of his job."

Subtitle

"Every tear was for the unbearable loss of Hero, who kept him lifted, always lifted, no matter what, with intoxicating optimism while Peter fought off urges to drink throughout his three year sobriety. And what a healing lift, the spirited welcome he received every single time he came in the front door. Because Peter was orphaned at birth, loving Hero and being loved by Hero was Peter's fragile connection to God -- music, his career in music, women and drinking were but means to cope with the fragility of that connection. He pressed the sleeved photos across his forehead like a headband and tried to regain his composure, but quickly gave up."
