"Two bare feet, young and feminine, stepped into Peter's downturned view and, without looking up, he knew who they belonged to."
"A woman spoke. "Hello, Agent Schawn." Peter looked up to see a radiant face. "Hello, Beatrice," he said. She nodded and continued. "I hate to be the bearer of bad news, Peter, but you know what you must do." "Yes, I know, B: to self-terminate is unacceptable, but I had to see my boy again." Even though she understood, her contempt was obvious. "Yes well, you know you cannot be rewarded for such a plan." Peter gave Hero a long, tearful hug until Beatrice ordered him to stand. "Here's your next case," she said, handing him a dossier. "This one is 30 years later. Multiple personality disorder. An awful mess. Peggy Cyp's her name. Fix her so you can see your boy again. By the way, you're going as an N.P. this time around." He looked puzzled. "A Non-Physical, B?" She nodded. "It fits the case. You'll see." With a shooing hand she said, "And you're still standing here because...?"
Peter's voice cracked when he promised Hero they would be reunited again soon, just as soon as he completed his penalty assignment.
