Title:

"At the customer service counter Peggy stood along side her arresting officer."

Subtitle

"Both stared in disbelief at the two can openers and a bag of clothes pins already placed on the counter before they arrived, but neither one dared to mention this surprise; it was too spooky. They were both tense while they waited for the store manager to process the transaction.
After given the total she owed, and while she was removing her designer wallet from her crossbody purse, Peggy noticed the man in the tuxedo standing behind her, and she paused for a moment. She asked the clerk to ring up only the cheapest can opener and the clothes pins, now trying her best to pretend she did not see the man behind her. It was all too weird, too distressing."
