Title:

"The driver of the bird-covered truck backed up, parked, waited and watched."

Subtitle

"After briefly speaking to the store employess, the policeman got back into his cruiser and re-actuated his emergency strobes, sped toward Peggy and pulled into the parking space closest to her. In a fever-dream sort of way, the harsh strobes shouted to the whole world to come watch this embarrassment. The cop exited his car with one hand on his holstered gun and stormed toward Peggy. All the color in her face bleached away, leaving a proper screen on which the strobes could project their multicolored flashes, alternating warm and cold tints on her unambiguous dread as she looked down at the can opener in each of her hands."
