Title:

"Feeling more stares she braved another glance back at the ladies in floral, and again, quickly, they looked away."

Subtitle

"And this time when she turned back to her left, the obese woman was pretending to study the quality of a non-stick skillet, but her boy was still staring at Peggy. He was chewing a bite from the round black cookie he held in one hand. In the other hand, an unbitten cookie. Sensing Peggy's glare, the woman put the skillet in her cart (later to remove it when Peggy wasn't looking) and rummaged through her hadbag, pretend-looking for her shopping list she never made. In the mean time, the man in the tuxedo, thinking Peggy was ignoring him out of spite, walked out of the store -- dejected, embarrassed -- without buying anything."
